Lakeview Cemetery

When I arrived in Cleveland I made it a project of mine to find fun/weird/great stuff in the city.

Exhibit Number One:

This dude lives at the Cleveland Museum of Art (free and awesome).

But that aside, I wanted to write about my first find- the Lake View Cemetery, only about 1 block away from where I currently live. Two big points of interest are the Wade Chapel and the James Garfield tomb. The chapel has a striking mosaic and stained glass window designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. During the day there is often a volunteer/guide present to give you the lowdown.

Next go check out the James Garfield tomb, this obscure U.S. president, assassinated after only 6 months in office, is laying in state in the basement. Once you have exhausted your morbid curiosity, climb the narrow spiral staircase up one of the two turrets. There you will find one of the prettiest views of the city:
